Sheep, a short story

-->
We had been walking for miles and I was starting to become tired, not only because my feet had started to ache but also because Joe could not stop talking. He was not like the other boys I knew from school. He seemed much more shy when he was with the other classmates. I don’t know why I decided to ask him where he was going after school. Now his trifling conversations were boring me. He was telling me about how he once got himself cut in a crevice on that very same spot where we were standing when he suddenly chuckled. He was starting to annoy me with his silly stories. ‘Here it was! See that crack over there on that rock? We were running from the shepherd when I suddenly fell and cut my hand.’
‘Why were even you running from a shepherd?’ I asked quickly, suspecting foul play. He did not answer right away, I think he was pondering if should tell me the reason or not. I harkened while he strode along the roadside. ‘Well, I was with the other guys from school and we kind of got mad at the sheep because they were so loud. We were trying to take a nap on the grass and they were really loud. One of the sheep just had had little lambs and you can’t imagine how loud they all were. So… You know Tom? Tom and me, we stifled one of the baby lambs…’
I was vexed and could not believe him. He kept going as if was a natural thing, explaining how he had deceived the shepherd when he found out one of the sheep had died. Then he started praising his own sagacity and his cunning behavior, because he had been much smarter than Tom. ‘You see, he does not even know how to trick somebody during a chase. I do!’

starting collections

here another idea for a collection:

OLD TRAVEL BAGS!

I love this idea!
I only own a very small one in red and I wouldn't sell it for the world. That is how much I am attached to it.
I know it belonged to my mother and it is the cutest suitcase I have ever seen.
The idea of collecting "luggage" came to me exactly because of the love I have towards that suitcase. I like it too much so that I never use it. It is just sitting in my closet - because I never want to loose it.

Displaying the objects you like, sounds a lot more fun to me!

displaying collections

I have been wondering what is the best way to display my collection... have not found the best way yet. But after searching I need the urge to start collecting even more items.
walter benjamin has an essay about collectors, which is just the right think piece on this topic!

I like that the clocks are not displaying time. They are purely aesthetical.

A friend of mine collects vintage & romantic looking tea cups. I think she does not display them though.

here a pict. of the nicest collections one could start:

I can also see myself collecting antique lamps!!!

and last but not least you can mix different objects and collect by size, age, color etc.

making the Machinarium figurine ^^

Making Josef the Robot from Machinarium =)

TOOLS:

You will need Sculpy/ Fimo:

I had a bit of yellow fimo, which I did not need. The color is up to you, because you will dye it silver in the end!

The following tools come in handy

STEP 1:

kneed the Fimo and mold it to necessary shapes:

1st the head
(size determines the rest of the bodysize)

you can make a sausage type of shape and then cut it off

then another "sausage" cut at both ends so you get a cylinder

Step 2:

connect both head and body with a pin and leave the "antenna" sticking out!

with another pin, which you cut in two, add the legs

it should look like this:

you can also add shoulders with fimo
and the arms I also made by cutting and beding 2 pins.

Step 3:
The eyes can done by indenting the shape with a pen.
After that you should mold two smaller pieces of fimo in a cup size form which you also indent with a pen.

You can add feet if you like!

Step 4:
Now the only thing missing is the antenna and the stripes/mouth, buttons screws and bolts!
this is my result:

Step 5:

Bake it in the oven, while following the instructions of your sculpy/fimo material and voilà!

On the next day I sprayed the little Josef with a chrome colored spray:

living in a small studio/loft/ one-room apartment/ bachelor's pad

It is a challenge living in a small one-level loft. Here are some ideas that might come in handy:

*When choosing a dining or a work table, buy one with wheels. This makes it more versatile if you need it for different purposes!

here is an example of this great tip:

*Extra storage is a thing you should keep in mind when choosing your furniture: beds with drawers, a wooden chest at the end of the bed, or sofas that have storage space under the seats can be really helpful!

*Ikea sells metal racks, which can be useful in your kitchen and bathroom. You can put your towels or cooking pans high up above your head leaving extra space underneath for tables or a clean wall without any clutter.

*Ensuring that you have a cosy and good-looking home has a lot to do with tidy surfaces. Keep counter tops in your kitchen free for cooking or dining, as well as your work space and tables.

*Keep a clear division of spaces, through a different furniture display, or by adding objects or draping. You should feel like, although there are no walls, there are different rooms.

*The last tip I have might sound a little crazy but I find it helpful! Navigate through some hotel websites and check how they decorated their suites. They have plenty of pictures of bedrooms/living rooms all in one, so check them out!

pictures of a bedroom in Vienna

I thought I would like to remember how my old room looked like in a few years so I took a few pictures.
In the meantime, the room is already so different that even as I am posting these pictures here, I find that these were taken years ago...
and now I even think
yhewww.. bad taste!

My new room might be up soon!
It's just that posting them here really just leaves more disk space on my laptop :)

and since there isn't really anywhere else to put this in...
I'll leave it here

sou um traidor
nao revelo quem sou
e minto sobre quem amo
na sombra escondo a verdade
aquilo que sempre fui

espero a vinda da luz
da luz dela que ilumine
a verdade e a mentira
que solte o tempo
e me faça viver de novo

Limerick (exercise)

I had to write a limerick to present in an english class
I researched a little and came up with this:

At the window was a cat wearing a hat
At the window that’s where she sat
But her owner was furious
Because passersby were curious
Since they had never seen such a wonderful hat.

writing exercise in german

So. Ich finde dieses Haus nicht. Ich verstehe einfach diese Adresse nicht. Nummer 23. Fehlt also die Tür Nummer 1. „Was suchen Sie denn?“ Na endlich! Dachte schon, niemand wohnt hier.

Sir Cecil Beaton + Sir James Dean

A manipulation just for the fun.
The background is an image of my own, and Beaton's portrait...well I don't know from where I got it anymore...

Below a scanned image from a magnet I bought the other day from www.cinemascope.com.pt
Can't wait to have my own fridge and be able to look at it each day!
The qualiy isn't good, but the magnet is great: it's almost A6 size and wasn't too expensive. I haven't paid for it yet :D - a friend did it for me!
The guy walking down the avenues in New York is James Dean.
It's a classic... he has a curious expression on his face. The full view still won't do him justice...
