a weird random moment
Found this photo in my old pc, it's from last summer.
It was taken in June I think, and I had been sad for some time, so I went to visit a friend of mine on a friday. We spent the day together and in the evening I had to go to a class but I didn't get out of the tram at the right moment, so I had to walk to the university.
This short 10 minute walk was rather curious. A demo had been going on, with hundreds of naked people on the streets.
When I arrived I only caught them leaving the parlament and heading somewhere else. But some were left behind. Aparently this one had trouble with his bike!

favourite songs
Choosing favourite songs is rather interesting, it says a lot about a person. But I prefer staying a little misterious and not revealing the songs that I love the most.
This one I don't mind showing anyone, because only those who speak portuguese will really enjoy it.
To those who don't understand a word, but still feel enchanted by the inherent melancholy of this piece, I recommend to listen to the other music from Madredeus.

project for an english class + theatre and film studies
We did a project for an engish class about newspapers, and I did this funny image in photoshop.
W wanted to show the class how tabloids exaggerate or often even lie or distort facts. So don't take this too seriously, ok??
It took me ten minutes to make, that's why it has a spelling mistake as well. Anyway thought it was so funny, that I had to post my tabloid think piece =)
I used to have a big list of links on the sidebar of websites concerning theatre and film.
These are useful for myself mostly, so I'll keep them on the blog.
I moved them down here, because the sidebar was getting pretty looooong =)

Day 01 Jihlava Film Documentary Fest
«11. Mezinárodní Festival dokumentárních filmú»
The Bus that drove us to the Czech Republic arrived a little late, but we did not mind - the group had thus more time for a coffee, bought in the Macdonald's in front of our University. And down on the left a picture of our hotel! A really old & cheap one, with light communist traces everywhere.
Then we headed to the film theatres in the centre of Jihlava and we got to see some of the city as well!
The cinemas were all great!!!
We had decided to watch a film called "Sea and Smackers" from Vacláv Reischl, a grotesque portrait of Portugal. The director had shot material in Portugal during the 80's, he recently then reassembled the material and the outcome is a rather curious mixture of slapstick, jokes about cultural differences and documentary footage.
So we arrived and immediately took our shoes off and made ourselves comfortable!
The movie was a dubbed version in Czech, adding to that the guests received a little Walkman with the English translations. The English version consisted in an English interpreter dubbing the film we were watching in Czech simultaneously.
So you can imagine hearing the translation of a translation... besides the quality of it was really bad and annoying! One could barely perceive the essence of the original version which was in German and Portuguese. Other than that it could have been a really enjoyable experience.

first morning in vienna
Had to stay overnight at a student hostel, which is also a students residency during the semester. The room was very small but it had the following view:
I am writing this post in November which is terrible, because the sunlight is rather scarce. Today at 3pm the sun was shining, but the strength of it's light is very weak. The Winter is arriving I guess and it's brrrr cold!

Jamie Lidell and new Home in Vienna!
[shot in Vienna, near the state opera house]
I am posting this video because I am so fond of Jamie Lidell's music, but also because I used to live where this video clip was shot at. From my bedroom window I could see exactly what is shown on the Video.
Now I live in a quiet street, from my window I can see 3 trees, but there are no birds =( , and a modern styled building which I quite like. I barely get any direct sunlight - which makes me a little sad. But we have our own kitchen and bathroom which is a relief !
The walls are thick in comparison to my old home, I rarely hear my neighbours!
Actually I have no complaints at all until now, it is so quiet here that I don't even know many people yet.
I have two Portuguese friends in Vienna on Erasmus, and two more will come next semester, I can't wait!!!
